Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy just means therapy using liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen is non-toxic and freezes tissue, allowing for a controlled, local destruction of the unwanted lesion. No anesthetic or injections are necessary, and treatment lasts a matter of seconds per lesion. Here are the types of problems that are helped by cryotherapy:
- Sun precancers, known as actinic keratoses, which usually show up as flaky red blotches on the face, scalp, ears, back, neck, chest and arms/hands.
- Warts on the eyelids, trunk, hands and feet
- Skin tags under the arms and around the neck area
- Brown seborrheic keratoses on the face and trunk, which are slightly raised, flat on top, dry and crusty (we call them “barnicles”)
